Our 2024 Exhibition

Expo 2024 Logo

Our 39th Exhibition

was held on
Saturday & Sunday
19th/20th October 2024

at the
Uckfield Civic Centre
Civic Approach, Uckfield
East Sussex

The 2024 exhibition was another great success with twenty layouts attending. There were thirteen diverse scale/gauge combinations on show including those in SM-32, 0, 0-16.5, 0-9, S, P4, EM, 00, 00-9, H0, 3mm/ft finescale, British N and 2mm/ft finescale. As always, something for everyone!

Layouts traveled from as far away as Avon, Berkshire, Cornwall, County Durham, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent, Middlesex, Somerset, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Sussex and Wiltshire portraying British, Norwegian and Cuban standard and narrow gauge prototypes.

The show once again incorporated Scalefour Southeast, a Scalefour Society regional event, which featured the Society's Information Stand and the Scalefour Stores, along with associated P4 layouts and demonstration stands.

We also had The 2mm Scale Association Roadshow with demonstrations, publication sales and three layouts constructed to 2mm finescale track & wheel standards.

Twenty two members of the trade, including specialist manufacturers, had a presence at the show. This year we were due to welcome two new members of the trade to the exhibition; Prickley Pear Products and Branchlines. Unfortunately the latter was unable to attend due to a family bereavement. A last minute shuffle took place with Monk's Gate Models occupying Branchlines' space in the Weald Hall and local online auction house Best Model Toys occupying Monk's Gate Models' location in the rear lobby.

There was a display by the model engineers from the Bentley Miniature Railway as well as the popular demonstration stand 'Soldering for Beginners' by guest Roger Sawyer.

The show was very successful, with many comments being received as to the high quality of the exhibits, the variety of trade goods on offer and the general friendliness of those taking part.

Throughout the weekend the visiting public was asked what layout they thought was the "Best in Show". The 2mm/ft finescale 9.42mm gauge layout St. Ruth constructed by the Midland Area Group of The 2mm Scale Association picked up the most votes and they were presented with a special plaque for mounting on the layout. Conyer Creek Signals (0) by Greg Coomber was placed second, with Central Alonzo (H0) by Andy Gautrey placed third.

Conyer Creek Signals was awarded the Keith Nock Memorial Trophy for the best layout in show as voted by exhibitors, trade and members.
