Expo 2021 Logo

Our 36th Exhibition

was held on
Saturday & Sunday
16th/17th October 2021

at the
Uckfield Civic Centre
Civic Approach, Uckfield
East Sussex

The 2021 exhibition was another great success with fourteen layouts attending. There were twelve diverse scale/gauge combinations on show including those in 0-36.75, 0, 0-16.5, On30, P4, EM, 00, 00-9, H0, British N, 2mm/ft finescale and American N. As always, something for everyone!

Layouts traveled from as far away as Cornwall, Derbyshire, Dorset, East Sussex, East Yorkshire, Hampshire, Kent, Leicestershire, Middlesex, South Glamorgan, Surrey and Warwickshire portraying British, Irish, American and French broad, standard and narrow gauge prototypes.

Seventeen members of the trade, including specialist manufacturers, had a presence at the show. This year we welcomed several new members of the trade to the exhibition, Compass Miniature Railways & Models, Dingo Servo Mounts, The Wagon Yard and Monk's Gate Models. Unfortunately C & L Finescale Track Building Systems could only be with us for the Saturday. Their space was ably filled on the Sunday by another new trader, Classic Rail. There was a display by the model engineers from the Bentley Miniature Railway as well as popular demonstration stands manned by guest Roger Sawyer (soldering) and Club member Paul Harding-Mabbs (2mm/ft scale modelling).

The show was very successful, with many comments being received as to the high quality of the exhibits, the variety of trade goods on offer and the general friendliness of those taking part.

Throughout the weekend the visiting public was asked what layout they thought was the "Best in Show". The 1:48 scale 16.5mm gauge (On30) narrow gauge American layout Clearwater Harbor constructed by Steve Waterfield picked up the most votes and he was presented with a special plaque for mounting on the layout. Sherton Abbas by David Stone was placed second with Wadebridge to Padstow by John Greenwood placed third.

Sherton Abbas was also awarded the Keith Nock Memorial Trophy for the best layout in show as voted by exhibitors, trade and members.
